So, what is CrossFit?

It’s a lifestyle, a community, an effective way to get fit and healthy.

We love the opportunity to talk about CrossFit and the CrossFit lifestyle. Below is a short overview and then over the coming weeks and months we will share more in depth blogs about each wellness section and why CrossFit Fife.

When someone is brand new to CrossFit there is the belief that it’s an extreme sport aimed at people who are already super fit, one of our most commonly asked questions is ‘am I fit enough?’ While there are amazing CrossFit athletes the majority of us understand that CrossFit is a lot more than just being super fit or even aiming to be an athlete. The aim for most of us is to live a healthy balanced lifestyle, improve our fitness, prevent injury/illness and do that in a fun and safe environment.

At CrossFit Fife our absolute passion lies in educating members on the many components involved in creating true wellness and the role they play in creating a healthy lifestyle. CrossFit carries the same ethos throughout the world however each CrossFit affiliate will have their own brand and mission.

CrossFit Fife really is for everyone with our youngest members being 16 and our eldest members in their 60s. We have athletes from different disciplines, we have members with physical disabilities and members with mental health challenges. We want the people of Fife and afar to know that we are not just a gym establishment, we are much more.

The wellness components that we at CrossFit Fife work with and will be covering over the following blogs are:

Mindset: The key to sticking with a workout program may be strengthening the “muscle” between your ears.

Movement: Good movement is an important part of Crossfit and the foundations will set you up for success.

Mobility: Teaching you the ability to move a joint through its full range of motion with maximum levels of physical control is a key component of CrossFit.

Nutrition: Simply put, you can’t out train a bad diet.

Sleep: Sleep is essential for the body to repair and be fit and ready for another day and another training session.

Community / Connection: At CrossFit Fife we support one another, interact, share experiences and cheer for everyone. Having this open bond with others is what builds valuable relationships, and gives us a deeper sense of belonging

Supplementation: Together we will explore the mind-field that is vitamins and minerals.

Recovery: Sometimes we are driven to keep pushing and pushing however recovery allows the body to replenish energy stores and repair damaged tissues.

The key to long-term health is getting the right balance of all of these components and creating health from the inside out.

So tell us, what is CrossFit to you and what has had the biggest impact on your fitness and overall health.
